The St. Andrew's Cross symbolizes the martyrdom of Saint Andrew, who, according to tradition, was crucified on a cross of this shape, choosing it to distinguish his death from that of Jesus. It is widely recognized as a symbol of humility and suffering, and is notably associated with Scotland, where St. Andrew is the patron saint, appearing on the national flag.
